The Top Internet Browsers of 2019, Ranked From Best to Worst
80 hours of research and testing, we named Mozilla Firefox as the best overall internet browser. It boasts fast page loads, quick navigation and, most importantly, secure browsing. We tested safety features using live malware and each browser’s default security settings; Firefox correctly stopped more malicious downloads and warned of more dangerous websites than any other popular web browser. Google Chrome is also a very good browser with the same tool set as Firefox, and while it typically comes down to personal preference, Mozilla Firefox did do slightly better in our speed tests and proved to be a bit more secure than Chrome. For Mac computers and iOS devices, we suggest checking out Safari.
Mozilla Firefox
Mozilla Firefox navigates to and loads new pages quickly. Its clean design makes it easy to find settings and tools. It is one of the most secure web browsers, blocking both phishing schemes and malicious downloads in our tests.
Google Chrome
Google Chrome is compatible with all platforms, including Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. It allows changes you saved in the browser to be accessed from other devices. It also recognizes and blocks both Windows and Mac malware.
Safari
Safari is designed specifically for Apple computers and iOS devices, though there is an Android app available. It is a fast browser, and it blocks dangerous websites well. Settings and bookmarks can be synced between Apple devices.
