GBWhatsApp is a WhatsApp MOD, an Android app that can be used to communicate with your contacts but adding new functions that can’t be found in the official app. It’s a modification of the original app that has been developed by a third party without the authorization of the legitimate owners. It isn’t available on Google Play and can only be downloaded from other alternative sources such as our own web, as you can do so at the bottom of this tutorial.
This MOD has been really successful as it incorporates some extra functions that have been historically demanded by the user community and that haven’t been included in any official versions to the date, such as the option to use two phone numbers at the same time or advanced privacy options to hide our status or our last seen time.
You can send text messages, make video calls, send audio messages, share files, create group chats… All WhatsApp’s communication options are also available in this MOD. It has been developed upon the source code of the original app, therefore, it’s easy to understand why it has the same functions and can be used to do exactly the same. However, we’re not talking about an add-on to expand the app’s features but a standalone development.
It’s not the only app of this nature. There are dozens of WhatsApp MODs that offer us extra functions such as YOWhatsApp or WhatsApp Plus, and new ones appear every week. However, it’s one of the best options you can use right now despite all the controversy surrounding its development.
Since WhatsApp is one of the most downloaded and used applications all over the world, it also has loads of accessory developments aimed at expanding the functions of this chat and instant messaging application which no other rival has been able to beat: Telegram, LINE, Signal, Kik... They might be popular in certain places but not even close to WhatsApp that has, at a global level, over a billion active users. Facebook Messenger is that only one that could put up a fight but it all stays in the family.
Well, amongst the different mods available for this app, we have to point out this GBWhatsApp which has been developed based on the original application but with functions that provide it with new features and expand some of the already existing options.
And now that you know what it's all about, you should read about the different functions you'll find in this app:
- Use two WhatsApp accounts at the same time from the same application.
- Functions that improve your privacy: you can hide your online status, hide the double blue check, establish a password to access your chats, hide that you're writing or recording a message...
- Share documents and multimedia files: send documents in PDF, TXT or DOC format of up to 50 MB, share your location with a single click, share contacts much easier...
- Customizable user interface with improved access to the camera, customization of the fonts, new menus to search for contacts...
This development has had several popular versions such as 5.90 or 6, but the latter have become outdated as new versions have appeared. Remember that to install this application, you'll have to uninstall WhatsApp (it's recommendable to make a backup of your conversations if you don't want to lose them). And don't worry, it comes along with anti-ban protection so you won't get kicked out of the service for using this modded version.
We also have to mention that in this case, we're talking about probably the best WhatsApp mod, only behind WhatsApp Plus, and with which we'll notice an immediate improvement to the functioning and performance of the instant messaging and chat app once we decide to download and install its APK.
- Minimum operating system requirements: Android 4.0.3.
- The installation of the app by means of the APK file requires the activation of the "Unknown sources" option within Settings>Applications.
